Rediscover Town Square Event & Halloween

We had a blast this year at the Rediscover Town Square Event here in Golden Valley, where all the local businesses came together to show off all the new things that are happening here.  It was the great unveiling of our new remodel, and we are so proud of the results.  We also had our Halloween merchandise out for perusal, with tons of fun gifts and decorations to get everyone in the spooky spirit.  This hanging ghost is truly gigantic, at over 18' long!

These awesome intergeneric orchids have the most unique-looking flowers you won't find at the grocery store.  This photo also shows our new ceiling!

These were for a masculine birthday present, full of great fall colors.

Orchid stems provide the focal point for this fun bubble bowl arrangement also featuring white stock, hydrangea, and white peonies.

This is a bridal bouquet from a different wedding, very unique tropical flowers made a splashy look.

While We Were Remodeling...

Even with all the remodeling going on, and getting ready for the fall/holiday season, we had lots of stuff going on here at Best Wishes, from weddings to funerals and events of all kinds.  Here's some fun sunflower arrangements we made for an event at the Governor's Mansion in St. Paul.

Sunflower, hydrangea, snapdragon, a pink rose and some purple bullet allium in a cube vase make a nice colorful accent for the center of the table.

A larger arrangement for the buffet table.

Wedding cake flowers with white roses, craspedia, and dahlias.

Need centerpieces?  This is what 60 look like, all loaded into the van for delivery!

A close up of a pew decoration for the same wedding, playing of the theme of white roses, leucodendron, and pretty purple shades of stock.

A vased arrangement for a funeral service.

Another funeral service, this plant basket with spathiphyllum , african violet, ivy, also has fresh-cut button mums, monte casino asters, and liatris to make a very beautiful combination.

This colorful mix featuring our locally-grown Len Busch red roses would be great for an anniversary, birthday, or on a buffet table at your next event.

One of our customers wanted to give plants as a housewarming gift, but had a few napkins she wanted us to incorporate.  We put them together to make an elegant gift I'm sure made a good impression.

Personal flowers for a wedding.  The theme for these was classic sophistication with a touch of glam, with preserved maple leaves, and those great Len Busch roses.

Our Huge Remodel

The months of August and September have brought many changes to Best Wishes Floral and we are happy to share the completion of our remodel project!  We have been working hard to update and redesign our store to better serve our customers the unique home and floral design expertise we specialize in.  The last three weeks have been especially hectic since we did nearly all of the remodeling ourselves, all while remaining open for business for all our usual work for events, weddings, funerals, birthdays and anniversaries.  Here's a series of photos of the progress.

The first thing we decided to change was the ceiling, pulling down the tiles and painting it black, to add height to the space.  Thankfully, painting the ceiling was the one part we hired experts to deal with, and we couldn't be happier with the result.

With the ceiling straightened out, next we took aim at the floor.  This was an adventure to find the concrete under the carpet in the front, and the green linoleum in the back room.

Underneath the carpet is a layer of adhesive gluing the carpet to the concrete, which needed to be stripped.

We also decided to re-paint the walls to match our new shopping bags and business cards, a dark brown and complimenting olive tone.

The cooler before the new paint job.

The new brown on the molding above the cooler.

The tile torn out of the design room.

The scraper we rented to chip up the ceramic tile in front of the cooler.

We moved the shelving to the opposite wall, trading places with the card racks.

The bare concrete, stripped of adhesive and cleaned, ready for the acid stain.

Once treated with the acid stain and washed again several times, we did a coat of sealer to give our new bronze-earth toned floor a nice shine.

We found a perfect ceramic tile to match the floor for the base boarding.

The huge new counter, with the old on on a dolly ready to get rolled out!

And just one of the many things we did during this whole process- a beautiful fresh cut flower wreath for a funeral.
