Pride Fest Wedding Fashion Show

Now that same-sex couples will be getting legally married in Minnesota starting August 1st, its time to start planning your event!  We participated in a fashion show at the Pride Fest in Loring Park over the weekend to show off some of the things we do for personal flowers for weddings.  This tropical-inspired headdress and boutonniere combo is a great example of the creative use of color and texture we pride ourselves on.

To match, we made up a large neck-piece with the same orchids, carnations and craspedia used in the boutonniere and headdress.

Here we have a beautiful and creative bridal bouquet with matching boutonniere featuring white curcuma, coxcomb, hydrangea, statice, leucadendron, millet, fatsia leaf, and lily grass.

A close-up of the bridal bouquet shows the intricate detail and texture.

Whether your ceremony has 2 brides, 2 grooms, or some other assorted pair, we will be sure to make your special day beautiful.  Come see us for a consultation!

Art In Bloom 2013 Preview & Prom

We just finished setting up our display at Art In Bloom's 2013 event at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and we are so excited for everyone to see what we have to show.  This year we are working in cooperation with the special Art In Bloom Store where we created a large floral display and will be selling plants and small arrangements which is different than what we have done in years past.  Here's a small taste of what we installed today, we will be posting a full set of photos next week but we strongly urge you to go see (and smell) this in person.  The entire museum will be filled with flowers and people, and it is one of our favorite FREE events in the Twin Cities of the entire year.

Bear grass is trailing down from the stunning arrangement over an array of bright blooming plants and fresh cut flowers, each ready to take home with you after your visit.

Just a slice of all the different flowers in this huge arrangement, including thistle, Asiatic and calla lilies, helleborus, leucadendron, tulips, orchids and more!

Despite the activity downtown, we will be open at the shop for all of our regular business hours, taking/making orders for Prom this weekend.  Here's a few samples of recent ones we have made.  Up top is a wrist corsage with spray roses, blue hydrangea and light blue rhinestones, which is a good example of what we typically make for Prom wristlets.  On the bottom left is a pin-on corsage that was made for a wedding shower featuring orange spray roses, red alstroemeria and iris.  A bit different than the standard look, this could easily be made as a wrist corsage as well, and is a good example of the more creative and distinct side of what we can make.  The last one on the bottom right is a unique boutonniere for a customer that wanted an option other than the traditional rose.  We instead used white freesia, ranunculus and blue delphinium with some branching sweet huck for a stylish look.

We offer a variety of options for weddings, from bouquets and personal flowers to decorations and centerpieces; we love working with brides and their loved ones who help them plan their special day, and we make sure to make each couple unique and special.  At Best Wishes, you'll receive personalized care for every detail of your event, and we are happy to work in any budget.

Fresh greens and tulle make a simple pew decoration.

Gerbera daisies in sunny tones bring bright colors to the ceremonial white.

Personal flowers, individually wrapped and labeled and designed to match the entire wedding.

This is a bridal bouquet from a different wedding, very unique tropical flowers made a splashy look.

Working delicate white feathers into the mix of tropical bird of paradise, orchid stems, white anthurium, and white fuji mums, accented with succulents, eucalyptus and green hanging amaranthus.

While We Were Remodeling...

Even with all the remodeling going on, and getting ready for the fall/holiday season, we had lots of stuff going on here at Best Wishes, from weddings to funerals and events of all kinds.  Here's some fun sunflower arrangements we made for an event at the Governor's Mansion in St. Paul.

Sunflower, hydrangea, snapdragon, a pink rose and some purple bullet allium in a cube vase make a nice colorful accent for the center of the table.

A larger arrangement for the buffet table.

Wedding cake flowers with white roses, craspedia, and dahlias.

Need centerpieces?  This is what 60 look like, all loaded into the van for delivery!

A unique bridal bouquet close-up, with lavender, purple stock, allium, roses, leucodendron, and seeded eucalyptus.

A close up of a pew decoration for the same wedding, playing of the theme of white roses, leucodendron, and pretty purple shades of stock.

A vased arrangement for a funeral service.

Another funeral service, this plant basket with spathiphyllum , african violet, ivy, also has fresh-cut button mums, monte casino asters, and liatris to make a very beautiful combination.

This colorful mix featuring our locally-grown Len Busch red roses would be great for an anniversary, birthday, or on a buffet table at your next event.

One of our customers wanted to give plants as a housewarming gift, but had a few napkins she wanted us to incorporate.  We put them together to make an elegant gift I'm sure made a good impression.

Personal flowers for a wedding.  The theme for these was classic sophistication with a touch of glam, with preserved maple leaves, and those great Len Busch roses.
