While We Were Remodeling...

Even with all the remodeling going on, and getting ready for the fall/holiday season, we had lots of stuff going on here at Best Wishes, from weddings to funerals and events of all kinds.  Here's some fun sunflower arrangements we made for an event at the Governor's Mansion in St. Paul.

Sunflower, hydrangea, snapdragon, a pink rose and some purple bullet allium in a cube vase make a nice colorful accent for the center of the table.

A larger arrangement for the buffet table.

Wedding cake flowers with white roses, craspedia, and dahlias.

Need centerpieces?  This is what 60 look like, all loaded into the van for delivery!

A unique bridal bouquet close-up, with lavender, purple stock, allium, roses, leucodendron, and seeded eucalyptus.

A close up of a pew decoration for the same wedding, playing of the theme of white roses, leucodendron, and pretty purple shades of stock.

A vased arrangement for a funeral service.

Another funeral service, this plant basket with spathiphyllum , african violet, ivy, also has fresh-cut button mums, monte casino asters, and liatris to make a very beautiful combination.

This colorful mix featuring our locally-grown Len Busch red roses would be great for an anniversary, birthday, or on a buffet table at your next event.

One of our customers wanted to give plants as a housewarming gift, but had a few napkins she wanted us to incorporate.  We put them together to make an elegant gift I'm sure made a good impression.

Personal flowers for a wedding.  The theme for these was classic sophistication with a touch of glam, with preserved maple leaves, and those great Len Busch roses.

June Update

Wow, the time has been flying by!  Its already Summer and we've left you high and dry without a blog update for two months!  Here's a taste of what we've been up to lately, a hint of what you'll see when you stop in to see us.  Above is a mock-up of a wedding bouquet Frank made for a client's upcoming August ceremony.  Beautiful blue cornflowers contrast with bright yellow craspedia (the round things), and beautiful lavender dahlias.  Just a bit of Queen Anne's lace and a few of our locally grown Len Busch roses (in white and the bi-color pink/orange variety aptly named Miss Piggy) thrown in and you're ready to toss!  (Or save in a nice vase with water.  Your call.)

A few arrangements that are currently adorning our cooler, ready to be picked up!  Above, that great yellow craspedia is glowing on a bed of blue Dutch hydrangea, ruddy maroon alstroemeria, a few Miss Piggies and that awesome deep magenta astilbe.  The cute cube vase size is perfect for a dining room table.  On the buffet table, below, are some stunning Asiatic lilies in beautiful orange and pink shades, yellow daisies, pretty pink larkspur in the center, a few Len Busch lavender roses all accented with bright yellow solidago and that luxuriously long-leafed eucalyptus.

Come get one or more of these adorable 4" orchid plants before they're gone.  I'm particularly fond of the one pictured on the right with the variegated leaves.  You won't mind keeping that around in anticipation of the next flower spike to come up!  Don't forget we love to give green thumb guidance, just ask us!

This really cool plant is actually a variety of the more commonly seen kalanchoe, called "desert surprise."  A very unique leaf pattern and flower structure reminds me of southwestern succulent varieties.

A shot of the planter in front of the shop; succulent garden in bloom!

We hope you're all having a wonderful summer so far!  See you soon!

Winter Wedding 11/19/11

This past weekend we were working on a wedding where we got to do almost all of the different types of arrangements we offer for events.  From centerpieces to corsages, boutonnieres, bridal bouquets, buffet arrangements, and even decorating the cake with fresh flowers, we really can do it all!  If you have a design idea in mind, however vague, Frank can bring your imaginations to reality.  Here are a few other photos from the wedding.
These complimenting arrangements were the backdrop for the ceremony.  The all-white flowers were outstanding in person, from roses and lilies, gerbera daisies and stock, all accented by those gigantic hydrangeas.

The all-white look was carried over to the table centerpieces in the reception, giving a nice continuity to the event.

Put the same centerpiece on top of a giant pilsner glass, and you have a fun and elegant way to create maximum height, adding interest to the room.  We have plenty of these available for rental, so you don't have to find closet space for them after your next event.
The head table deserves an extra-special arrangement, here achieved by adding just a pop of color to an already stunning centerpiece.  Our Len Busch roses are locally grown, so you know you'll be putting your money back into the MN greenhouse economy and not into the atmosphere as greenhouse gases.
And on top of a wedding cake, those huge white roses look good enough to eat!
